Ledbury Places

Ledbury Places is a project to restore six heritage buildings in the centre of Ledbury, make them more accessible, bring them to life through heritage interpretation and achieve greater use and activity for the benefit of local communities, visitors to Ledbury and the local economy. With support from the SIB group, the project commissioned work from Purcell Architects, ourselves and others.

We were commissioned first to assess the heritage and cultural tourism potential of the project and then to develop an interpretation strategy with interpretation designers, Scribble & Nonsense, and activity plan to support the project’s Heritage Lottery Fund application. On the interpretation side, our work was greatly assisted by the local history research undertaken by Sylvia Pinches and her team of research volunteers, supported by the HLF funded project, England’s Past for Everyone.
