Carlisle Historic Core

DCA were lead consultants in the development of an Historic Core Development Strategy for Carlisle. Working with Donald Insalls architects and Storeys SSP, we put together:

A baseline report, providing, inter alia, a heritage baseline and conservation area appraisal, a quantitative and qualitative market analysis and an economic conditions analysis (including an assessment of the creative industries potential), leading to a vision for realising the economic and cultural potential for the quarter; and

An action plan for delivering on this vision, including proposals for maximising the potential of key assets (the castle, the museum and art gallery and the cathedral etc and the associated public realm), the interrelationship between the historic quarter with the creative industries, arts development and education, links with existing brands eg Hadrian's Wall and more general image and branding. development.
